My AIESEC HFC Part 1

Assalamualaikum wbt and hello,

It's been more than a year since I came back from Vietnam for the exchange program under AIESEC Global Ambassador Program (GAP). It was indeed an amazing and unforgettable experience I have ever had. Even till now, I could vividly remember each and single moment I encountered there.

Why Vietnam? It was one of the famous questions by my Vietnamese friends and people whom I shared my experiences with. To be frank, I have always rejected my mom's offer to have a vacation in Vietnam. Simply because I prefer European countries as my choices of visit - I like to enjoy the four seasons, meet the people and etc. I didn't want to visit places where war used to take place, and you could see those monuments, experience the goosebumps and so on.

For your information, you would have to choose a few volunteering choices under the GAP - Literacy, Environment, Social and etc (which I could not remember). Since I chose Literacy, Vietnam was the only country that was available during that period of time. So I decided to step out of my comfort zone and choose the country instead. The urge to be part of the program, which allows you to change other people's life, had actually made me forget all the reasons that hold me back from visiting the country.

So if you have been wondering what does HFC stand for, here it is - Hope For Children.
It was a program that gives you the opportunity to teach them English and help them to improve their communication skills.

As the name implies, the volunteers are going to meet the children. Yes, I expected children who are about 12 y/o or perhaps a little bit older. But Allah's plan is always better. I was given the opportunity to facilitate university and college students. To meet them, know their stories and be part of their lives - is a privilege. Insya Allah, I will write more about my experiences in teaching in the next entries. Stay tuned :)

See yaaaa ;)
